Kia has confirmed that its new minivan name will be changed, adopting the global Carnival nickname and dropping the Sedona name that’s been in use in the United States for the previous three generations of this van. We’ve already seen the international version of the new Kia Carnival, and we’ll get the full details on the 23rd of February when the 2022 Kia Carnival makes its official debut via live stream.
Some teaser images show that it looks very similar to the previous version we’ve already seen, and the darkened grille suggests that this could be the first Kia model in the United States with the company’s new logo.
A filing on the United States Environmental Protection Agency website shows that the 2022 Carnival will come with a single powertrain in the United states a 3.5-liter V-6 and an eight-speed automatic. That means it will offer more power than the outgoing Sedona model, which has a 3.3-liter V-6.
The 2022 Kia Carnival also have a more modern interior with a larger touchscreen informative system and nice looking materials. The available second row lounge seats will make their way to the United States version, although we don’t think we will witness anything like the luxury Korea-market model with curtains and an air cleanser.
The new 2022 Kia Carnival is 40 mm longer and has a 30 mm longer rear overhang than its previous model. It also have a 30 mm long wheelbase and it is 10 mm wide. With up to three or four rows of seating, it has enough room to accommodate seven to 11 adults.
We will look at more information to come next week as we learn more about the United States specs and information about the 2022 Carnival.
We all now know that the 2022 Kia Carnival is officially debuting on February 23, 2021. You can also watch the debuting here.
