Hyundai initiated the E-GMP platform dedicated to electric vehicles a couple of weeks ago with the Ioniq 5 and now the sister brand Kia is about to unveil the 2022 Kia EV6 riding on the same underpinnings. The zero-emissions model is the brand’s first electric vehicle to adopt the latest design and adopts the new classification that will be used by future dedicated electric vehicles.
The teaser pictures and videos reveal that the 2022 Kia EV6 has sequential LED lights at the front and rear that move every time you lock and unlock the vehicle in the same vein as some German cars. It is safe to presume that the 2022 Kia EV6 looks completely different from the Ioniq 5 even though the hardware underneath the skin will be greatly shared between the two.
The Kia UK site mentioned earlier said something’s regarding some of the technical specifications. The vehicle will be able to cover more than 300 miles (483 kilometers), and while the testing cycle is not mentioned, the company is supposedly referring to WLTP. It will only take about 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent, which is the same thing we can say about the Ioniq 5 while four minutes of charging is equivalent to 62 miles (100 kilometers) of range.
Experts might find the 2022 Kia EV6 a bit on the boring side, but the electric crossover will be really fast. The vehicle goes from 0 to 60mph in just 3.5seconds, which is quite astonishing considering the fastest and most powerful Ioniq 5 of the bunch does the job in 5.2 seconds. Electric vehicles don’t excel in terms of top speed and it definitely will be the same story with the EV6, even though it is sportier than the Hyundai version.
