Dubai Police fleet, there’s no shortage of glitz or pace, and now another sportscar has been added to the illustrious list. The 2021 Toyota Supra, a legendary nameplate that returned following a 17-year hiatus, was recently purchased by Dubai’s police department.
Al-Futtaim Automotive, the sole dealer of the Japanese brand in the UAE and a long-time associate of Dubai Police, delivered the 2021 Toyota Supra to the police force. Dr. Mohamed Al Razooqi, General Director, Department of Transport & Rescue at Dubai Police, and Yousuf Al Raeesi, Director of Government Affairs & HSSE at Al-Futtaim Motors, as well as other senior officials from both organizations, attended the handover.
“The addition of high-powered supercars to the department’s fleet is a result of strong citizen and media reviews. We’re still looking for new opportunities to engage with the public. “With these vans, we’re not trying to show off, even though the Supra is quite the head-turner; rather, we want to show both visitors and locals how friendly the police are in the city,” said Dr. Mohamed Al Razooqi.
As part of its standard fleet, the Dubai police currently have Toyota Fortuner, Prado, and FJ Cruiser.
The 2021 Toyota Supra, which is powered by a 3.0-litre engine, accelerates from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in just 4.1 seconds and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 kilometres per hour. Toyota Supras are only available with rear-wheel drive and come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The long-term 2021 Supra 3.0 put down some seriously amazing acceleration figures on the test circuit, going from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and zero to 100 mph in 9.5 seconds. That brings it up against the Chevy Camaro, Porsche Cayman GTS, and BMW M2 Rivalry in the major leagues.
