The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has partnered with Etihad Rail, to collaborate on the issue of safety permits for the next stage of the UAE’s national rail project.
The agreement between both organizations was signed at the Ministry’s office in Dubai in the presence of the UAE’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei. The agreement was overseen and signed by His Excellency Eng. Hassan Mohammed Juma Al Mansouri, Under-Secretary of the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and the Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Rail, Shadi Malak, and there were also representatives who attended from both organizations.

The signing of the agreement comes as Etihad Rail continues to progress on the second stage of the UAE’s National Rail Network. Across the project’s four stages, Etihad Rail has accomplished about 34% of overall progress since construction works began in January 2020. The speed at which progress is always achieved provides strong foundations for the mandatory completion of the second stage, continuing the trend of making sure that the railway carries out leading safety standards and procedures throughout the project.
Judging and commenting on the signing of the agreement, His Excellency Suhail Al Mazrouei said “The United Arab Emirates will continue to successfully improve its transportation infrastructure which is a key facilitator of growth in the UAE’s industrial and service sectors. Furthermore, the transport sector offers a lot of social and commercial benefits, as well as additional strategic advantages, supporting our nation’s feasibility development objectives. Progressive, the infrastructure and transportation industry helps to safeguard the past half-century of growth achieved in the UAE, alongside fixing targets for the next 50 years, supporting UAE Centennial 2071 and permitting the UAE’s global leadership across a diverse range of sectors.”
