Hyundai is set to release its first vehicle in the Ioniq subbrand, the Electric Ioniq 5 SUV, on the 23rd of February. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a new electric SUV that’s on the edge of being revealed and it is expected to go on sale before 2022 or late 2021.
Ahead of the debut, the iconic automaker has released an interior shot of the coming electric vehicle. The Ioniq 5 is a mid-size crossover, as we’ve seen from the above teasers of the exterior. Its look draws from the design of the 45 concepts and that look extends to the interior.
The overhead picture of the front seats and dash of the Ioniq 5 SUV shows two screens, the instrument cluster, and the informative screen, which sit on the same panel running from in front of the driver to the middle of the dash. Buttons are sporadic, there is a bunch of physical controls below the infotainment screen, but not much beyond that.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 SUV will get a physical drive stem to the right of an extended steering wheel. The steering wheel looks indistinguishable to those in cars from Genesis, the Hyundai group’s luxury brand. In between the drivers, there is nothing more than two cup holders, and storage. There will be a smooth floor between the drivers, much like in the 45 concepts.
The driver’s and front passenger seats come with an equipped footrests so that the passengers can rest while charging the car. Those seats are wrapped in sustainable materials sourced from products such as sugar cane, wool, and recycled plastic bottles. Hyundai says that the interior of the Ioniq 5 is both roomy and customizable, but we’ll have to wait until it is unveiled to learn how it can be customized. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 SUV will be revealed on the 23rd of February.
