With people spending much more time at home these days due to the pandemic, gaming platforms are becoming very popular. Not only have that automakers such as Honda had even live-streamed new models of their Vehicles debuts on Twitch, building on the commercial success of the live streaming service. Now, another Japanese automaker is benefiting from the popularity of Twitch but this time around, Lexus and Twitch are taking things to a new level.
Lexus has just introduced a new vehicle called the Gamers IS with the help of the gaming giant, Twitch. It’s a full-size car remodeled into a gaming vehicle with the help from Twitch and input from 554,000 of its users who voted on the remodeling and tweaks made to the car. The famous automaker also teamed up with fabrication experts at SCPS to build the car.
The vehicle is formed on a modified Lexus IS 350 F Sport with 48 percent of the voters choosing the Infiltrate design custom vinyl wrap for the exterior. More than 55 percent of the users voted for the so-called Neon Tokyo interior style, including an electrified, neuron-exploding Japanese pop art beauty.
But the major part is the gaming hardware, a central place which is taken by a custom-built gaming PC with an MSI Gaming GeForce GPU + AMD CPU. The component has been installed in the vehicle’s trunk in a good-looking custom housing, spotlighted by programmable RGB LEDs. There is even a fog machine as well as automated RGB lasers further amplifying the sci-fi atmosphere.
Lexus and Twitch community dive headfirst into their passion for gaming, just as we did in creating the new 2021 Lexus IS as a pure expression of a sports sedan the Vice President of marketing at Lexus said they asked for the help of Twitch in designing their dream gaming space, and they answered in spades and together, they created the ultimate fusion of design and performance in automotive and gaming.
