Univasa Nigeria Limited, an information technology company, has recently launched an online taxi booking services and they also pledged to close the gaps in the state’s (Edo state) transportation sector.

Speaking at the launching of the online taxi booking and roundtable with stakeholders in Benin City, Edo State, the Chief Executive Officer of Univasa Nigeria Limited, Ben Adeniyi, said the innovation was released to ease the stress on commuters who go to taxi parks to book transport service.

Ben Adeniyi, who was represented by the General Manager of the firm, John Oyakhilomhe, anticipates expansion of the online taxi booking services to other states of the country before the end of the year.

He also mention that the company would offer drivers fuel bonus, weekend bonus for parties, yearly healthcare insurance and also referral bonus on the basis of the number of rides the drivers achieved.

Noting that over 170 drivers had already registered on the platform, he added that the revenue share between the drivers and the company would be 90% and 10%.

He said tracking devices had been installed in the vehicles in case if any problem occurs, adding that all the drivers needed to do was to press the distress signal and the customers care unit of the firm would immediately notify the nearest police station.

Adeniyi lamented the bad state of roads across the state, urging the government to repair the road to give drivers smooth rides to their respective destinations.

“We are an indigenous company, and we want to make transportation easy for every individual in Edo State. We’ve dreamt of today’s achievements happening a long time ago and we are happy to see it become a reality.

“We understand that some motorists may not have data and that is why the ride-hailing feature can be used offline on the application or by calling the hotlines where a driver will be directed to them,” he said.
